‘‘Owners Mimi and Peter Buckley started Front Porch Farm with a vision—to grow healthy food, create something beautiful, and to gather people together. Their estate wines are very much part of that vision”
Front Porch Farm’s idyllic estate vineyards encircle a picturesque farm in a small and sunny valley that looks up at Fitch Mountain, east of Healdsburg. Sebastien Pochan, originally of France, handles all of the viticulture as well as the winemaking. He believes that when you farm well, everything else falls into place, and that the balance and diversity of this beautiful spot in the world should be reflected in the wines.
Front Porch Farm produces about 24,000 bottles a year from their fully estate, organically-certified vineyards. Their vineyards are planted to Rhône varietals including Syrah, Grenache, Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, and Mourvèdre.
Front Porch Farms does not aim to produce big and flashy wines; rather, they aim to produce balanced and harmonious wines, meant for enjoyment with food, family, and friends. The White 2016, a blend of viognier, roussanne, marsanne, and grenache blanc, has light and dancing aromas of popcorn, honeysuckle, and white pepper. It’s fresh and lively on the palate with distinct notes of pear. The Grenache Blanc 2016 is an enticing deep lemon color in the glass, and intensely floral on the nose. On the palate, magnolia, tuberose, and gardenia lead you through a night stroll in the garden.
A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah, has aromas of forest floor, black pepper, and blackberry. On the palate, tightly-structured tannins introduce notes of mineral, iron, and woody herbs, ending in a long finish of tart cherry.
