Ted and Heidi Lemon founded and own Littorai. Ted serves as winemaker and vineyard manager while Heidi leads the business.
Littorai owns both the Pivot vineyard in Sonoma’s Sebastopol Hills area of the Sonoma Coast, and also the Haven vineyard near Occidental. The Pivot vineyard is planted entirely to Pinot Noir. The Haven grows Pinot Noir, as well as small parcels of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. Littorai also maintains a long-term lease on the B.A. Thieriot vineyard, which is planted to Pinot Noir. Each of these sites is farmed biodynamically. Additionally, Littorai sources from organic vineyards along the Sonoma Coast and in the Anderson Valley area of Mendocino in order to make Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Littorai Pinot Noir carries the freshness and structure offered from cool climate sites with an ocean influence. Some whole cluster is generally used though the amount included depends on vintage. As a result, the whole cluster signature is rarely obvious in the pinot with its usage bringing more structural integrity to the wine rather than altering the flavor profile. The B.A. Thieriot Chardonnay 2013 (GREAT WINE) carries a combination of floral herbs — chamomile, tree blossoms, and even hints of Italian herbs that have begun to flower — with mouthwatering acidity and incredibly long lines. It offers a nice balance of engaging presence on the palate with the palate cleansing acidity to make you return again and again to the glass.
