La guida Slow Wine ha sempre recensito con estremo favore i vini dell’azienda Bressan Mastri Vinai e il tipo di viticoltura che porta avanti, anche quando altre pubblicazioni hanno ignorato entrambi; inoltre ha sempre cercato il lato positivo del pensiero di Fulvio Bressan, basta leggere il testo di recensione dell’azienda pubblicato nell’edizione 2013.
Ma Slow Wine non è solamente un progetto editoriale, è la guida dell’associazione Slow Food, che in questi anni ha sviluppato progetti internazionali come Terra Madre e Mille Orti in Africa. Slow Wine fin da subito ha deciso di tenere in ampia considerazione anche il lato umano dei produttori e di raccontare (andandoli a visitare) i vignaioli che recensiva, con uno stile narrativo. Buono, Pulito e Giusto non è solo uno slogan, ma i tre aggettivi sono essenziali per descrivere la qualità di un vino e/o di un’azienda che noi recensiamo.
Ora, le frasi apparse profilo Facebook privato di Fulvio Bressan sono talmente gravi da aver oltrepassato qualsiasi linea rossa. Non abbiamo voglia neppure di entrare nel merito, perché sono talmente offensive e assurde da non meritare pubblicità. Tra l’altro sono state anche lette con attenzione le risposte che Bressan ha postato a chi è intervenuto per stigmatizzare quelle affermazioni, e non sono state trovate né delle scuse né nulla che possa fare fronte alla grande e sacrosanta indignazione che queste parole hanno sollevato a livello nazionale e in diversi Paesi esteri dove i suoi vini sono conosciuti e dove l’eco di quelle frasi è giunta.
Slow Food con la propria rete associativa internazionale e con la rete delle comunità di Terra Madre è portatrice di valori che sono agli antipodi dal pensiero di Fulvio Bressan; non si può accettare che appaia all’interno di una qualsiasi pubblicazione di Slow Food un produttore che si macchia di offese tanto gravi verso altri individui esclusivamente per ragioni di razza. Per questo motivo i due curatori e la redazione di Slow Wine, in pieno accordo con i responsabili dell’associazione, hanno deciso di non recensire l’azienda Bressan Mastri Vinai nell’edizione 2014 di Slow Wine.
Slow Wine has always favorably reviewed both the wines of Bressan Mastri Vinai and the type of agriculture employed, even when other publications turned their back on both. We at the guide have always tried to look at the positive aspects of Fulvio Bressan’s character; this is clearly evidenced by our review of the winery in the 2013 edition.
However, Slow Wine is not solely a publishing enterprise. It is a body that is directly linked to the Slow Food association, which has successfully developed international projects like Terra Madre and 1000 Gardens in Africa. From the get-go Slow Wine has placed considerable importance on the human aspect of wine production; we take great pride in visiting producers we review, to thus tell their stories in our publication. «Good, Clean, Fair» is no a mere slogan, those three adjectives are essential to the description of the quality of a wine itself, as well as the entity that produces it.
The phrases that appeared on the private Facebook page of Fulvio Bressan are so harsh that they cross every line in sight. We don’t want to delve into specifics, for they are so offensive and absurd that they do not deserve further publicity of any kind. In addition, we take issue what was posted in response to those who spoke up in order to admonish his epithets. Nary an excuse was found and nothing facing up to the grave and sacrosanct indignation that his words incited; their haunting echo resounded nationally here in Italy as well in many countries abroad where his wines are sold.
Slow Food, with its international network of convivia and the community network of Terra Madre, is an ambassador of global values; values which stand antithetical Bressan’s freely publicized viewpoint. We refuse to include a producer in any Slow Food publication who so unreservedly hurls insults based exclusively on race. For this reason, the entire Slow Wine Team, in full accord with the heads of Slow Food, has decided not to review the winery Bressan Mastri Vinai for the 2014 edition of the Slow Wine guide.
